Wesnoth 實作了搭配其本身的遊戲指令碼語言使用的文字預先處理語言。此外，還擁有一個內建的 Lua 解譯器和 API。Lua API 和預先處理程序使用相同函式 (filesystem::get_wml_location()) 來解析檔案路徑，因此只能讀取使用者資料目錄中的內容。然而，該函式並未明確禁止副檔名為 .pbl 的檔案。因此這類檔案中的內容可儲存在遊戲存檔中，甚至可直接傳輸給網路遊戲中的其他使用者。遭洩漏的資訊中，還包括用來驗證遊戲內容伺服器上傳項目的使用者定義 passphrase。
