Adobe Reader 可讓使用者檢視和列印可攜式文件格式 (Portable Document Format, PDF) 的文件。

Adobe Reader 8.1.7 容易受到重大安全性瑕疵影響，不應再繼續使用。特製的 PDF 檔案可導致 Adobe Reader 當機，或可能在開啟時以執行 Adobe Reader 的使用者身分執行任意程式碼。(CVE-2009-4324、CVE-2009-3953、CVE-2009-3954、CVE-2009-3955、CVE-2009-3959、CVE-2009-3956)

Adobe 已經不再支援 Linux 版 Adobe Reader 8。Adobe Reader 9 for Linux 與 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 不相容。
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 中可替代使用的 PDF 檔案檢視器是 xpdf。

此更新已因 acroread 套件中的已知安全性弱點而將其移除。
