PostgreSQL 是一種進階物件關聯式資料庫管理系統 (DBMS)。
在選用 PostgreSQL pgcrypto contrib 模組中的 crypt() 密碼雜湊函式與 DES 演算法搭配使用來執行密碼轉換的方式中發現一個瑕疵。如果要雜湊的密碼字串包含 0x80 位元組值，則當計算雜湊時會忽略字串的其餘部分，從而明顯降低密碼的強度。這使得暴力密碼破解更有效，因為並不需要完整密碼即可取得受保護資源的存取權。(CVE-2012-2143)
注意：透過此更新，字串的剩餘部分會正確包含在 DES 雜湊中；因此，之前所儲存的密碼值中，受到此問題影響的所有密碼值將不再符合。在此類情況下，將需要更新這些儲存的密碼雜湊。
當套用 SECURITY DEFINER 或 SET 屬性至程序語言的 (例如 PL/Perl 或 PL/Python) 呼叫處置程式函式時，在 PostgreSQL 伺服器執行使用者權限檢查的方式中發現拒絕服務瑕疵。非超級使用者資料庫擁有者可利用此瑕疵造成 PostgreSQL 伺服器因無限遞迴而當機。(CVE-2012-2655)
上游確認 Rubin Xu 與 Joseph Bonneau 是 CVE-2012-2143 問題的原始報告者。
