glibc 套件內含提供給系統上多個程式使用的標準 C 程式庫。這些套件含有標準 C 和標準數學程式庫。如果沒有這兩個程式庫，Linux 系統就無法正常運作。
在 ldd 公用程式動態識別連結的程式庫的方式中，發現了一個瑕疵。如果攻擊者可誘騙使用者以惡意二進位執行 Idd，可導致利用執行 Idd 的使用者權限執行任意程式碼。(CVE-2009-5064)
據發現，更新 mtab (已掛設的檔案系統表格) 檔案時，多個掛載協助程式公用程式所使用的 glibc addmntent() 函式，它不會正確處理特定錯誤。如果這類公用程式具有 setuid 位元設定，本機攻擊者可利用此瑕疵損毀 mtab 檔案。(CVE-2011-1089)
Red Hat 要感謝 Dan Rosenberg 報告 CVE-2011-1089 問題。
此更新亦可修正數個錯誤，並新增數個增強功能。
這些錯誤修正和增強功能的相關文件，近期將可從〈參照〉一節中的「技術提示」文件連結中取得。
建議使用者升級至這些更新版 glibc 套件，其中包含可解決這些問題的反向移植修補程式並新增這些增強功能。
