此更新可修正下列安全性問題：惡意 DHCP 伺服器可指示用戶端使用含有 shell 中繼字元的主機名稱。由於系統中有許多指令碼並未預期系統的主機名稱中存有異常字元，故 DHCP 用戶端必須清理伺服器提供的主機名稱 (CVE-2011-0996)。
此更新也可修正下列非安全性問題：
- 564441：e1000 和 dhcpd hickup
- 565030：dhcpcd 不使用 dhcp 伺服器選項 33 的路由器元件 (靜態路由)
- 574938：系統更新無法部署到主要伺服器。
- 577402：使用修補程式 bnc#565030 的 dhcpcp 有 /32 網路遮罩的 netlink 錯誤
- 601704：dhcpcd：忽略連結載波且不重新傳送
- 654649：dhcpcd 忽略 -G (--nogateway) 選項並設定預設路由
- 657402：dhcpcd 傳送 RENEWAL 作為乙太網路廣播而非單點傳播
- 668194：因為部分總和檢查碼卸載，dhcp 用戶端在 Xen domU 中運作異常
