在 utf8_decode() 函式中特定字元順序的處理不充分，可遭攻擊者利用來執行跨網站指令碼 (XSS) 攻擊 (CVE-2010-3870)。如果系統使用參數 FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL 傳遞很長的郵件位址至 filter_var()，php5 也會消耗大量記憶體和當機。(CVE-2010-3710)。
